The Okinawa Prefectural Government Health and Longevity Division announced Friday that mumps epidemic has been spreading on the island since October, and it seems possible that the epidemic continues.

As of the week of 9 to 15th of this month, the number of mumps patients was 109 in 34-selected pediatrics departments. The mumps started to spread in October in the middle parts of the island, then spreading to the north and Miyako Island.
