Unemployed man nabbed for stealing copper wire

Okinawa City Police arrested 47-year-old, unemployed Yoshimasa Goya from Kina, Yomitan Village, on Nov. 24th, on suspicion of stealing copper wires from a chrysanthemum field. The wires were a part of a light system that allows the grower to adjust the flowers’ blooming time.

According to the police, Goya is suspected of stealing ¥15,500 yen worth of copper wire from a chrysanthemum farm in Ikehara, Okinawa City, sometime between the evening of Oct. 7th and next morning. The stolen copper wire is about 50-meter long and was used to connect a utility pole and the field’s power board.
