Kanucha’s Stardust Fantasia features a live concert at midnight.

Kanucha Bay Hotels and Villas is a large luxury resort complex located on the east coast of Okinawa Main Island on the northern shore of Oura Bay, almost straight across from Camp Schwab.

The Kanucha Final Countdown fireworks shoot up exactly at midnight when the year changes.

Because of its rather remote location, it’s perhaps less known among Okinawan residents than the other luxury resorts on the island, although it offers all the amenities and comforts as any other resort on the island, including a full 72-hole golf champion-class golf course on its own premises, outdoor and indoor pools and a beach with a full rage of marine leisure activities.

Every year from Nov. 1 through the end of February, Kanucha decorates its whole area with one million LED lights for a seasonal event the resort calls “Stardust Fantasia.” As a part of this event a special countdown laser show, the ‘Final Countdown Illusion’, takes place Dec. 31st starting at 22:30 and highlights the end of the year.

Opening the evening is a special live performance of Akira Ikuma at 23:00. A balloon release at midnight on the New Year Eve will carry everyone’s wishes for peace and prosperity for the next year in addition to fireworks. Anyone can join in the event. After the countdown, balloon release and fireworks at midnight, there’s a lottery with a pair of hotel tickets and a number of original goods as prizes.

Kanucha Illumination is definitely worth seeing, and runs through the end of February.

Tickets for the event are limited to 500 people and cost ¥2,000 per person for staying hotel guests, non-staying visitors’ tickets cost ¥3,000 per person. Tickets include a lottery ticket, one light meal and one drink service ticket. Tickets are sold at the leisure counter in Kanucha Hotel, and Hot Okinawa Naha Office until Dec. 30. The office is located at 1-19-1-4F, Nishi, Naha City and is open from Monday through Friday, from 9:00-17:00.
