National badminton team to hold camp in Itoman
The Itoman City Board of Education officially announced that the Nippon Badminton Association has decided that the Japan national team training camp in January will take place for the first time at Mishizaki Comprehensive Gymnasium in Itoman City.
Japan’s top players, such as Kento Momota and Nozomi Okuhara who both won the singles Super Series Finals in Dubai last month will take part in the camp. A total of 29 male and female national team members including a manager and a coach will participate in the camp from Jan. 10th to 16th.
Including in the activities of the camp, team members are scheduled to train on a sand court taking advantage of Okinawa’s mild weather. A communication event with children and a lecture for coaches and trainers is also in the program.
Itoman City was the venue for badminton matches during the Kaiho National Sports Games and the Churashima Inter-High School Championships.
People involved in badminton on Okinawa welcome the training camp as a way leading to improving badminton’s popularity and player skills in the prefecture.
