Corporate Games, a unique sports event that began in England and spread to San Francisco in 1988, is taking place on Okinawa for the second time March11th ~ 13th, 2016. More than 170 cities throughout the works have held, or are holding, Corporate Games. The three days of the games are festive, with a mix of sports events, parties and parades bringing participants into a networking environment.

Organizations, groups of friends, families, colleagues or corporations, may enter the Corporate Games. Organizers say the Corporate Games offers a the perfect opportunity to create employee confidence, loyalty and team spirit, while increasing name and brand recognition, and help to create social and business networks. Participants in the past corporate games say that the games have proven to be invaluable in creating partnerships and introducing new peer-to-peer relationships and customer contacts. Many say participating in the games has been one of the best investments they have made.

The Corporate Games are open to all businesses and organizations, regardless of size. The entry fee is ¥10,000 per person on a team plus a 8% sales tax, and includes a lot of perks. Aside for the entry fee for the Super Center Celebration, Great Games Party, Grand Parade and closing Awards Celebrations, it includes sports participation – except in golf that has an additional ¥8,000 green fee, ten pin bowling ¥2,000 fee and soft darts 2,000 fee and soft darts 2,000 – insurance, official programs, souvenir gifts and medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

Sponsored by Corporate Games Japan, the games in Okinawa are being underwritten by more than two dozen organizations and government agencies, including Okinawa Prefecture, the Okinawa Convention and Visitors Bureau, Okinawa, Ginowan and Chatan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Okinawa International University, and local communities and sports associations, Okinawa media, including FM Okinawa, Radio Okinawa, the Okinawa Times, Ryukyu Shimpo, Ryukyu Broadcasting, Ryukyu Asahi Broadcasting and Okinawa Television Broadcasting.

Dragon Boat races off Chatan Fisherena are included in the Okinawa Corporate Games.

Sixteen sports are included in the upcoming Corporate Games in Okinawa. Badminton takes place at the University of the Ryukyus Gym, Basketball at Kadena Baseball Field, Basketball at Okinawa International University Gym, Soft Darts at Okinawa Convention Center Exhibition Hall, Dodgeball at Uruma City Gym, Dragon Boat Races at Chatan Fisherina, Futsal at Kadena Sports Dome, Golf at Orion Arashiyama Golf Club in Nakijin Village, and 30km Relay Marathon at Ginowan Seaside Park.

Other events include Softball at Chatan Softball Stadium, Soft Tennis at Ginowan Tennis Court, Open Water Swimming at Araha and Sunset Beaches, Table Tennis at Okinawa International University Gym, Tennis at Chatan Tennis Courts, Tenpin Bowling at Enagic Bowl Mihama and Chatan Bowl, and Volleyball at the Ginowan City Gymz.

Organizations may enter as many individuals or teams as they wish in any combination of sports. Each individual person may enter only one of the 16 sports.
