Woman plunges mini car into Ryutan Pond
A mini car broke through a fence and plunged into the Ryutan Pond next to Shuri Castle in Shuri, Naha City, Wednesday. A 23-year-old woman from Naha City driving the mini car managed to get out of the car by herself and was not injured.
According to Naha Police, the woman entered the Josei Elementary School street by mistake on her way towards Asato from the Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. She crashed into the fence, and her car fell into the pond when she attempted to make a U-turn.
The woman reportedly told to police that she hit the gas pedal instead of brake by mistake. The pond is about 50 cm deep at the point that her car fell into.
