High school graduate jobs higher, but many quit soon
The number of high school students in Okinawa graduating in March 2016 and who have received informal job offers, has increased compared to the same time period previous year.
According to Okinawa Labor Bureau, the number of high school students graduating this spring looking for a job was 2,337 as of the end of November. 1,258 of them had secured a job before graduation, which is a slight increase compared to the previous year. The percentage of graduates who found work is 53.8 percent that is an increase of 1.6 points compared to a year ago.
By contrast, 55.4 percent of those who graduated high school in March 2013 quit their jobs within three years, which far exceeds the national average of 40 percent.
