Okinawa City Police has arrested a 18-year-old high school boy, a student at a local public high school, on suspicion of possessing marijuana.

According to persons familiar with the case, the boy is suspected of having dried marijuana in his possession for the purpose of using it in Mihama, Chatan, on Jan. 5th.

A police patrol stopped the boy for questioning, and officers found wrapping paper and a small amount of marijuana on him.

Police continue to investigate the case and are trying to determine its purchase route in cooperation with the Prefecture Board of Education and other relevant authorities.
