Taxi driver arrested for Matsuyama hit and run

A passerby found a 36-year-old man from Naha City lying down bleeding from his head on a street in Matsuyama, Naha City, early in the morning on Jan. 12th.

The man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries including a lung contusion and multiple fractures on his face.

Police investigating the case concluded that the man had been a victim of a hit and run accident, and had likely been sleeping on the street when he was run over by a car.

On the following day, police arrested Hiroshi Kinjo, a 66-year-old taxi driver from Urasoe. When questioned, Kinjo admitted having hit something, but he insisted that he had not noticed that he had run over a person. However, traces of the victim’s blood was found on the taxicab.
