DUI driver crashes into van carrying six tourists
A 73-year-old unemployed man from Yomitan Village driving a car crashed into a rental car carrying six tourists from South Korea on Route 6 in Sobe, Yomitan Village, Saturday evening.
According to Kadena Police, the man failed to stop at a red traffic light and entered into the intersection colliding with the tourists’ rental van, as they were on the way from Ooki to Toya.
A 54-year-old Korean woman in the van broke her rib, and the other five people, including a one-year-old girl, suffered slight injuries. They were all taken to a hospital but none of their injuries are life threatening.
According to police, a breathalyzer test showed about four times the legal limit of alcohol in the man’s breath.
