Female teacher arrested for hit-and-run DUI

A 25-year-old female temporary teacher working at a prefectural high school on Ishigaki Island was arrested Saturday on suspicion of a hit-and-run under influence alcohol.

According to Yaeyama Police, the teacher had a minor collision with a car that was parked behind hers about 8:30 in the morning, Friday, when she reversed on a convenience parking lot in Tonoshiro, Ishigaki City. However, despite of the collision she drove away from the scene.

The police was able to identify her and her workplace from an eyewitness testimony, and caught her shortly. A breathalyzer test showed about four times the legal limit of alcohol in her breath.

The teacher told to investigators that she thought the alcohol she had consumed the night before had gone from her system already, and denied a part of the charges.
