The University of the Ryukyus announced its general entrance examination results Monday with 1,223 students passing the test.

At 11:00, as soon as the names of successful students were posted on the bulletin board at the university, shouts of joy erupted among the lucky test-takers and their family members.

Of the 1,223 who passed the test, 738 are from Okinawa, while 477 came from outside of the prefecture. In addition, eight students from overseas passed the test.
