Drifter arrested for slashing pachinko employee’s neck

Naha Police arrested a 65-year-old unemployed homeless man Tuesday evening on suspicion of attempted murder.

According to police, the man was arrested on spot in a pachinko parlor in Asahimachi, Naha City, after he slashed a 35-year-old employee’s neck with a box cutter knife. According to witnesses the attack took place when the employee warned the man not to take someone else’s slot machine coins.

The employee was taken to a hospital. His injury is not life threatening. When questioned, the man reportedly told police, “The charge is wrong,” and denied the charge.

The man reportedly was under influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.
