Four Ospreys from Futenma dispatched to disaster site

The Japanese Government announced Sunday that Japan will accept the U.S. Military support using Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft from MCAS Futenma on Okinawa to support recovery efforts undertaken by the Japanese Self Defense Force. This is the first time for Osprey aircraft to be used to support disaster recovery efforts in Japan.

Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit arrived on MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, today to assist with recovery efforts in support of the Government of Japan’s relief efforts after the island of Kyushu was hit by a series of earthquakes, causing significant damage and so far 42 reported deaths.

Four MV-22B Ospreys from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.), 31st MEU departed the Philippines at 11:00 Sunday, refueled at MCAS Futenma, and proceeded to MCAS Iwakuni, where they arrived at 18:30.

The 31st MEU has four additional MV-22B Ospreys staged at MCAS Futenma. The aircraft are on standby to provide aerial support for recovery efforts if needed.

Are the protesters going there ??? Oh wait they will still be outside the gates with their bad English signs protesting.

Why would they go to the mainland? I’d call you on making another classless remark but you’d just accuse me of misunderstanding you. Again.

That was dark sarcasm! Thanks for taking the time to comment though.

Draftsman you do realize they are paid protesters right? And yes some are from mainland Japan too. In fact when they have that stupid hands around the base majority of them are from mainland Japan. They are paid and flown in.
