Okinawa Police officers dispatched to Kumamoto
The National Police Agency announced Saturday that another 1,258 police officers including a number from Okinawa, has been dispatched to Kumamoto Prefecture to assist in the recovery after a series of strong earthquakes struck on Apr. 14th and aftershocks are still continuing.
Earlier more than 3,300 police officers were sent to the area on Apr. 15th immediately after the disaster. Currently, a total of 4,600 police officers from 35 prefectures are serving in Kumamoto in addition to local police.
Aftershocks that are still occurring, mainly in Kumamoto and Oita prefectures in the Kyushu area of Japan, resulting in the evacuation of more than 200,000 people.
