Express bus to start running Naha-Koza route in fall
Okinawa Prefecture Traffic Department announced that it would start a trial service of an express bus between Naha and Koza in Okinawa City. The new express line is scheduled to start running from October.
The express bus will stop only at some major bus stops thus shortening the travel time. Currently, there are some express bus lines running during the rush hours in the morning, but there has not been an all-day express service.
The express bus line runs the route Koza-Futenma-Isa-Naha, and makes 12 round trips a day. The normal bus lines connecting Koza and Naha have about 46 bus stops along the way, but the express bus stops only at about 15 locations.
Prefecture planners expect the express bus to make the one-way trip about 10 minutes faster than the regular bus line. Naha Bus Co., Okinawa Bus Co. and Toyo Bus have agreed to join forces for this project.
