Okinawa population at 1,432,874

Okinawa Prefecture announced that the population of Okinawa stood at 1,432,874 as of June 1, 2016. The number shows a 1,310 increase from a month before, and is 6,685 larger than at the same time last year.

Households in the prefecture number 577,286, which is 1,374 more than last month and 11,140 more than last year at the same time. Yonaguni Town saw the largest increase rate, as its population grew 12.27% from last year. The increase is because of the Japan Self Defense Force is building a new observation post on the island. Nakagusuku is in the second place with 2.85% increase from last year.

At the same time, Tarama, an island halfway between Miyako and Ishigaki, had the largest decrease and has now 3.35% smaller population than a year ago. Iheya shrank the next most at minus 2.47%.

    Yes it shows by the damages in the northern mountains heading in Nago heading to Motubu. The politicians and media have all the people riled and focused on the bases enough that by the time they notice their will be no mountains around Nago and behind will be carnage.
