Elderly woman hit by DUI driver seriously hurt

A woman in her 80’s was crossing a road in Maehara, Ginowan City, around 22:00 Monday evening, when she was hit by a car. She was transferred unconscious to a hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

Police investigating the accident say more than three times the legal limit of alcohol was detected from the 42-year-old driver’s breath, and he was arrested on suspicion of driving under influence and causing an accident resulting in injury.
