Ishikawa Police arrested Thursday the chief of the Health and Welfare Department of Kin Town on suspicion of driving under influence.

According to police, a police patrol stopped 35-year-old Kazuya Yamasato at Igei, Kin Town, about 4 a.m. on Thursday, and as the officer smelled alcohol in his breath, he was administered a breathalyzer test that showed about three times the legal limit of alcohol in his breath. He was arrested on the spot on suspicion of driving under influence.

According to the police, Yamasato denies the charge.
