American, Japanese Boy Scouts to have jamborette this weekend

The Okinawa Council Scout Association of Japan, with the Asia Central District, Far East Council, Boy Scouts of America, will hold the 23rd U.S.-Japan Friendship Jamborette Nov. 5-6 aboard Camp Kinser.

The event, created in 1973, is held to bring together American and Japanese scouts through the joint programs in a spirit of friendship and international understanding.

The two-day overnight event is expecting more than 400 participants from both scout associations, including participants traveling from mainland Japan. The head of the Scout Association of Japan is also expected to participate.

Col. Feyedelem, the camp commander of Camp Kinser, and Urasoe City Mayor Tetsuji Matsumoto are scheduled to make opening remarks at the event.
