Okinawa forecast to enter extra warm weather spell

All 28 observation spots of Okinawa Meteorological Observatory recorded temperatures higher than 25 degrees Celsius on Monday that is extraordinarily warm for this time of the year.

On Izena Island, the mercury rose to 30.0 degrees while 29.9 degrees was recorded in Naha. Officials at the observatory compared the weather to typical between mid September and early October.

The Observatory issued Monday an early warning for extraordinarily warm weather for next week from Nov. 19 on, during which the temperature in Okinawa would be 1.6 degrees higher than on average. They predict the temperature during the period would be less than usually affected by the cold air from the continent, and thus would be higher than normal. They advised farmers to take the hot weather into account regarding their crops.
