Ginowan Police has arrested a junior high school teacher on suspicion of indecent acts with a minor.

According to police, 43-year-old Yoshinori Shinzato, a teacher at a public junior high school in the middle part of Okinawa Main Island was arrested on suspicion of violating the child prostitution laws. Shinzato reportedly denies a part of the charge insisting, “I don’t remember her age.”

Shinzato is suspected to have paid money in exchange for sex with a 14-year-old female junior high school student in a hotel in Yonabaru Town on Dec. 4th, 2016.

According to sources, there has been information that Shinzato tried to solicit another minor girl for prostitution in the hotel in Yonabaru. Investigators reportedly found correspondence between the concerned parties on a social website.

The man and the girl not acquaintances, and contacted each other on smart phones. The Police searched Shinzato’s house and reportedly found related material.

Police is planning to investigate Shinzato further on his possible links to other similar sex offenses.
