NPO Taiyou no Ekubo wins childcare prize

NPO Taiyo-no Ekubo from Urasoe City was the big winner of the 10th Childcare Project sponsored by Sumitomo Life insurance company receiving both the Sumisei Gold Prize and the Ministry of Education Prize on Monday.

Taiyo-no Ekubo competed with 190 participants from all parts of the country for the prestigious prizes that are awarded annually to commend work for good environment for childcare.

Taiyou no Ekubo’s motto is to “enjoy childcare in Okinawa more!” It publishes a free childcare information magazine “Taiyou no Ekubo” that is distributed throughout Okinawa.

Taiyou no Ekubo CEO Rurie Hoshikado says, “Our activities are aimed at all mothers who are struggling with childcare, as well as their families, friends, acquaintances, and cooperating companies. We are very pleased to receive the prize. We would like to hold an event somewhere on one of the remote islands with the prize money.”

The awards ceremony will be held in Tokyo on March 6th.
