Pizza House Restaurant to re-open in Minatogawa
Pizza House, an iconic western style restaurant that first opened in 1958 in Okinawa City and closed in 2010 in Gusukuma, Urasoe, is scheduled to re-open its main restaurant in Minatogawa, Urasoe, at 5:30 p.m. on Mar. 29th.
Kouzo Iha first opened Pizza House in 1958 in Okinawa City. It later moved to a location on Highway 58 in Ginowan, scross from another Okinawan icon Jimmy’s, and finally to Gusukuma, Urasoe City, in 1988, into the renovated old building of the American Consulate. It was closed in December 2010 because of a road expansion. The restaurant was popular for its authentic western dishes and corresponding western atmosphere and reasonable prices.
In the opening ceremony held on Mar. 22 for invited guests, the president said, “We aim to become a kind of restaurant that is firmly based on Okinawa and cater to needs of local residents.”
The new restaurant features a dining room with seats for 108, a party room with seating for 8 to 24 customers, and a bar lounge with 61 seats. The parking lot has parking for 70 cars.
The restaurant serves a wide range of western style dishes including filling American, Spanish, and French meals. There also is a shop selling homemade processed products like ham and sausages.
The Pizza House will be open from 5:30 to 11 p.m. for dinner, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch. The restaurant is closed on Tuesday.
