Car crash into utility pole leaves elderly woman dead
A car crashed into a utility pole Saturday afternoon on Road 330 in Sobe, Naha City.
According to Police, a light car driven by a man in his 20’s strayed for an unknown reason onto the opposite lane, and crashed into a utility pole. A woman in her 90’s who was a passenger in the car was taken to a hospital, where she was confirmed dead. The driver sustained slight injuries and his life is not in danger.
A fire broke in the car after the crash and the two people who had been in it had managed to get out.
The car had been traveling on the national road 330 from Kohagura intersection towards Asahibashi intersection.
Police suspect the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Investigation in the details of the accident continues
