Yamauchi named MVP at Asian Women’s Volleyball C’ships
Misaki Yamauchi, the captain of Japan Women’s National U-23 Volleyball Team from Itoman, was awarded the Individual MVP Award for the second Asian Women’s Volleyball U-23 Championship tournament, Sunday.
The tournament was held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, from May 13 through 21st.
22-yearold Yamauchi contributed to the Japanese National Team’s coming-from-behind tournament victory of 3-2 over the hosting Thai team.
Yamauchi, whose team is now the top in Asia, said after the victory, “I am happy that we finally won the medal. All of our members worked hard together for the victory.”
With the victory, the Japan team qualified for the U-23 World Championship tournament scheduled for Sep. 10 through 17th in Slovenia.
