Man stabs old schoolmate after quarrel in Ishigaki City
Yaeyama Police arrested Sunday 49-year-old Haruichi Yoshimoto on suspicion of attempted murder after he stabbed a 46-year-old man, reportedly his schoolmate, in Tonoshiro, Ishigaki City. Yoshimoto reportedly is denying the charge.
The man, who was stabbed in the left side of his stomach, was taken to a hospital in Ishigaki City. He reportedly was able to answer questions while he was in the ambulance.
Yoshimoto is suspected to having had a quarrel with the man for an unknown reason, and stabbed him in his own fish shop around 6:15 p.m. Sunday.
The man and Yoshimoto’s went to the same school and have known each other since. They had been drinking alcohol together starting at 4 p.m. on the same day.
