Matayoshi to play at “My Navi All Star Game 2017”

Players for the interleague Japanese professional baseball game “My Navi All Star Game 2017” on July 14 and 15th have been announced.

28 players from each Central and Pacific League team were selected by the fans. Katsuki Matayoshi of Chunichi Dragons, a native of Urasoe was selected to play for the first time in the annual match.

Hearing about his election, Matayoshi said, “ I did not expect to be selected. It’s an honor. I thought that I was going to watch the game on TV. I think I’m good at making a sidearm throw.”

Matayoshi has played more than 60 games this season, and is in the Dragon’s lineups for the third consecutive year. He has grown into a “must have” player for Chunich Dragons as a set upper since his 2014 debut. In 2015 he was selected to the national “Samurai Japan” team.
