Flowers, glass linked in arts & crafts exhibition

Stained glass can be used in all kinds of everyday objects.

Products made of pressed flowers and stained glass are the focus of a special Pressed Flower & Stained Glass Joint Works Exhibition through Sunday at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum of Art.

Admission to this 12th annual event is free at Galleries 1 and 2 at the Prefectural Art Museum in Shintoshin.  The works of approximately 60 instructors belonging to the Okinawa Gaia Pressed Flower Association will be showing more than 100 of their works.

The Pressed Flower Picture is the work where the pressed flower expresses a theme, having been created using technology which makes it possible to suppress discoloration of flowers over a long period of time by placing a pressed flower into a vacuum state and sealing it.  Stained glass works are finished in the style of stained glass by sticking a color film and a lead on materials such as glass, china and wood, before drawing a design on them.

The galleries are open 9 a.m. ~ 6 p.m. today and Sunday, and until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

This wall decoration is made by using pressed real flowers as the main decoration.
