Naha Meal Grand Prix introduces gourmet foods to public

The Naha Family Festival 2013 is held at Onoyama Park Athletic Field, Sunday, and brings with it a one-of-a-kind gourmet competition aimed at promoting the local Naha City economy.

Everyone loves food, and specialty or gourmet meals are something that attract visitors from anywhere.  The Naha Meal Grand Prix from 11 a.m. ~ 8 p.m. Sunday finds more than 30 Naha City restaurants competing with their favorite dishes, and the public is invited to give them a try.

The purpose of the event is to brand the unique restaurants as “Naha Meshi” which means Meal in Japanese, setting the stage for promotions to tourists from outside Okinawa Prefecture.  Organizers plant to use the gourmet concept to

Participants will vote their favorites from the dishes.  There’s no entry fee for the Naha Meal Grand Prix, but those wanting to sample the foods, and then vote, must first purchase food tickets.  Tickets are available at the door.
