45 kilos trash collected from Matsuda Beach

By Edo Heinrich-Sanchez

Estimated 45 kilos collected by Black Onyx, and Okinawa Clean Coast Network (OCCN) volunteers. Thank you!

It was still a little windy on Saturday with the typhoon on its way out passing Ishigaki. Under an hour we collected about 45 kilos of trash. Mostly of Japanese origin, we also found plastic bottles from Taiwan, China and Korea.

The third Monday of July was Japan Ocean Day. Volunteers cleaned up Cape Maeda area and I’m happy to say that about a half a bag of trash was collected.  Most of other trash, we hope to prevent it from getting “out of hand” and encouraged beach goers to take their trash plus a little more home.

At this time, we welcome the Black Onyx Pacesetters

Members of the NPO UNEP Friends of the Earth led the “Vitamin Sea – Toyota AQUA SOCIAL FES Campaign with a cleanup in around the Urasoe Recycle Plaza. Six hundred volunteers swarmed over and in between the concrete tetrapods to collect a whopping 1,500 bags of trash.
