The 3rd Great Okinawa Exhibition now at Ryubo
A week-long exhibition, the 3rd Great Okinawa Exhibition showcasing Okinawa’s goods, handicrafts and foods, is now in progress at Ryubo Department Store.
The 3rd annual exhibition runs daily 10:30 a.m. ~ 8:30 p.m., except on Monday, through July 8th, the final day, when it closes at 5 p.m. Just about every part of Okinawa is represented at the exhibition. The vegetables from the prefecture, the daily sales of inexpensive fruit, and the demonstration sale of a trade mark pig “Kanjuku Pork” are all daily attention-getters.
From Ishigaki Island, Ishigaki beef, black chicken, awamori, and boiled fish paste (kamaboko), are introduced. From Uruma city, a new taste of Okinawa
is presented with processed foods prepared for the just-made daily dishes and lunch boxes. The sweets are made with ingredients like the “mozuku seaweed” and “carrots” are some of the more exotic local specialities for a visitor.
The exhibition also has in stock individual items, such as chairs, small furniture accessories, and leather products for children, produced as handicrafts.
Special events take place on Sunday, July 7th with a contemporary Okianwan group dance show on the first floor event space 1 and 3 p.m., and free distribution of Mozuku Soy Sauce 1:40 and 3:40 p.m. There’s also a pork filleting and sale presentation at 1 and 4 p.m. Admission to the exhibition at the 6th Floor Exhibition Hall is free.
