Great Creature Exhibition explores biodiversity

A complete skeleton of a mammoth is also included in the exhibit.

Every biodiversity of life that exists on earth, is the origin of culture and civilization, and is the theme of The Great Creature Exhibition now running at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum.

The exhibition runs daily except Mondays, through September 1st.  The Museum exhibition is open 9 a.m. ~ 6 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. ~ 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

This exhibition tells people Japan is one of the biodiversity hot spots on the earth, and Okinawa is the biodiversity hottest spot in Japan. The exhibition is introducing relationships between living things and people, and offers an opportunity to have a new appreciation of the benefits from nature, and tells the importance of maintaining biodiversity.  It promotes the

The exhibition features not only animals from land and ocean, but also shows the geographical areas where they came from.

goal that the nature, which is the big property for Okinawa Prefecture, is left to the future generations in a better shape. It is the optimal event for the children’s free subject homework in the summer vacation.

Advance admission is ¥640 for adults, ¥400 for college and high school students, and ¥240 for junior high school and elementary students.  Admission at the door is ¥800 for adults, ¥500 for college and high school students, and ¥300 for junior high school and elementary students.
