Grand Blue introduces Christmas Special

Grand Blue boasts one of the best view on the island from its backyard patio over Nakagusuku and Awase.

A downright authentic Italian restaurant with a spectacular view overlooking central Okinawa from its hilltop location in Kitanakagusuku is brightening the holiday season with a gourmet Christmas Special.

Grand Blue Christmas Special

Now accepting reservations for the Christmas Special, the full course dinner costs ¥6,500 per person from 23rd through 25th December, and includes antipasto, fish dishes, Japanese produced beef dish, assorted sweets and more. A reservation one day in advance is required. Except special days Dec. 24 and 25, Grand Blue serves only Fetta di carne di Surloin course for ¥2,700 and Felicellina course for ¥3,500 on weekends (Dec. 23 the ¥6,500 Christmas Special also), and course menu plus Pizza Napoletana single item order on weekdays in December.

For Japan Update readers, the Grand Blue is serving a welcome glass of wine or a soft drink when ordering the special dinner.

The chic Italian restaurant has a new head chef lured from the Busena Terrace Hotel, famous for hosting the G8 Summit of Okinawa in 2000.  Aside from the Christmas special, the specialty of Grand Blue is Napoletana Pizza, made with ingredients of dough imported from Italy and baked in a wood fired oven that also came from Italy.  The head chef’s recommendation is the Quattro Formaggio, which includes four kinds cheese: Parmesan, Mozzarella, Cream and Gorgonzola, and is very tasty.

The restaurant also promotes its lunch sets featuring a steak, fish, curry or pasta. As another special for customers, Grand Blue serves a drink special ¥2,100 for 120 minutes for course menu, with a choice of Kinmugi beer (only one beer per customer), glasses of wine, cocktails, Awamori or soft drinks. The drink special is available for entire groups or individual customers, and cannot be mixed with some in a group ordering drink specials and some not; kids must participate for this special for dinner time.

Grand Blue asks that you tell your wait staff you read Japan Update, or bring this paper to the restaurant when you order one of the specials. For wine lovers, there’s a wine special featuring Miravai Rose, a fine rose wine produced by a French winery. Grand Blue also has non alcohol drinks such as non alcohol sparkling wine.

Grand Blue is open daily from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. for lunch, and 5:30 p.m. – 11 p.m. for dinner. Last order is 9 p.m. for the course dinner and 10:00 p.m. for drinks.
