The maze of wonder! Trick art exhibition opens in Ashibina

When seen through a camera lens, the effects of trick art can be quite startling.

So called “trick art,” an art for that has two dimensional pictures painted in a way that the viewer sees them as three dimensional, especially when taking photos, has lately been enormously popular, especially in Asian countries.

The Okinawa Times newspaper is now sponsoring a trick art exhibition in the Okinawa Outlet Mall Ashibina in Toyosaki, Tomigusuku City. The art pieces are from S.D. Space Design, Corp. in Tokyo, and will be on display in Okinawa starting Friday and through February.

As with most trick arts exhibitions, the organizer invite visitors to touch the exhibits, and take pictures with themselves posing as a part of the experience. In essence, the trick art exhibition presents the mysteries of the world inside of the camera frame.

The exhibition is open every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is ¥600, and ¥400 for children under 14 of age.

Japan Update is currently raffling out a pair tickets to the exhibition. To participate go to www.japanupdate,com, and click “Current Issue” and then “Raffle Entry” in the drop menu.
