Tomigusuku Marche set for second event

The 2nd Tomigusuku Marche invites people to see hand made and craft products this weekend.

The Tomigusuku Marche, or market, is set to open for a Saturday-Sunday run at the Tomigusuku Michi-no Eki special event space in Toyosaki.

The 5th JA Okinawa vegetable festival will be taking place at the same time at Tomigusuku Michi-no Eki.

Immensely popular the first the Tomigusuku Marche executive committee tried the special weekend market, it was decided this pre-holiday season was the ideal time for a repeat performance.  The Marche will run 10 a.m. ~ 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday across from the Ashibina Outlet Mall in the Toyosaki district of Tomigusuku.

Visitors are invited to “come and experience” (or just observe) how sugar cane dyed products are made. There will also be a variety of hand made and craft products for examination and purchase.  Some 50 vendor stands will be open to browse from and choose to take home with you. At the same time the 5th JA Okinawa vegetable festival will be taking place; they will be offering a wide variety of fresh vegetables made in Tomigusuku.

To get to Tomigusuku Michi-no Eki, go south on Hwy 58 and past the Naha Airport. At the intersection of Senaga Island turn right and then left over the bridge. After crossing the bridge take the ramp down and the Michi-no Eki is on the right. Coming from the Okinawa Expressway, continue all the way to the end towards Naha Airport. The Senaga intersection to turn left is immediately after the Tomigusuku Police Station.
