Grand Blue holds four-day fresh Oyster Fair

The best raw oysters in Japan are now served at Grand Blue.

Japan’s freshest, most famous oysters are now hitting the dinner tables in Okinawa.

Along with raw oysters, oven fried and other oyster dishes are on the menu, too.

Oysters from the Seto Inland Sea are being harvested and flown direct to Okinawa daily, where the Italian Grand Blue Restaurant is featuring an oysters special from today through Sunday.  Grand Blue manager Masahisa Takahashi says “I’m sure there are a lot of foreign oyster lovers on Okinawa, but I’m also sure they’ve no idea they can get fresh ones here.”

The Seto Inland Sea oysters are being offered for ¥250 a piece, ¥800 for four or ¥1,800 for 10 at the Kitanakagusuku restaurant. Some special oyster dishes are also available as a part of set menus.

Takahashi calls the fair “very attractive fare for our Japanese customers, of course, but we decided to aim this promotion to our foreign customers first before advertising it to the Japanese. We have also selected wines that are especially good with oysters.”

Grand Blue is open year round from 11 a.m. ~ 3:30 p.m. for lunch, and 5:30 p.m. ~ 11 p.m. for dinner.  Last food orders are at 9:30 p.m.

The restaurant accepts both yen and major credit cards but no dollars. Reservations are available at (098) 935-5910.  A map on how to get to Grand Blue is at http://goo.gl/maps/QQLmv.
