The first ‘Peace Concert,’ which organizers hope to make an annual event in Yomitan Vilage, takes place on Sunday.

The 1^st Heiwa Concert, a peace concert, is set for Saturday afternoon at the Yomitan Village Culture Center.

The concert sponsored by the Yomitan Tourism Association Saturday at 3 p.m. features South Furugen Elementary School, Yomitan Junior High School and a Yomitan Choir.  Admission is ¥1,000.

Joining the schools and choir will be Yoko Terashima and Mamoru Togashi as narrators, soprano Yusako Terashima, Masashi Oshiro on saxophone, Mariko Ekawa on piano, Izuko Ishihara on electronic organ and acoustic unit Sopepopo.

The music consists of mixed Okinawan and contemporary melodies that reflect the theme of the concert.
