Ghastly ghosts making appearances in haunted houses

This girl at Ashibinaa needs her black tooth pulled.

The bewitching season is here, and haunted houses are making frightful appearances at Ashibina Mall in Tomigusuku, and also at Navel Kadena in Kadena.

At Kadena, the spooky action is a sequel to last year’s “TEMARI,” one of the biggest haunted houses on Okinawa, and a scary success a year ago.  The sequel “TEMARI” is based on Ryukyuan haunted house stories with scary screen images and sound effects added to make you more frightened. You have a chore to give a ball “Temari” back to a girl “Sachiko”, in the 130 meters course through her house.

The ghost girl at Navel Kadena is waiting someone to give her ball back.

The haunted house runs through Sunday, August 31st, at Navel Kadena Arena.  Operating hours are 1 p.m. ~ 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon ~ 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.  Admission is ¥1,000 for adults and ¥500 for kids ages 6 ~ 15.

The haunted house at Outlet Mall Ashibina, at Toyosaki in Tomigusuku, centers on a rumor that Akane, who is cursed by black teeth, is a living ghost.  Visitors have one burden upon visiting the haunted house; they must pull the Akane’s black tooth out, helping Akane go to heaven.  The question is: can a visitor actually pull the tooth out?

The haunted house is at Okinawa Outlet Mall Ashibina, on the second floor, now through September 28th.  The haunted house tickets are ¥1,100 for adults and ¥900 for elementary school children.  The haunted house operates Monday through Friday 2:30 p.m. ~ 8 p.m., Saturdays 1 p.m. ~ 8 p.m., and Sundays and holidays 11 a.m. ~ 8 p.m.
