Public invited to give name to baby elephant
A female baby elephant of the Indian elephant Ryuka in Okinawa Kodomo-no Kuni Zoo was presented to the public for the first time on Apr. 11th.
The baby elephant, which was born weighing a hefty 100 kilograms on Mar. 7th, has grown to 170 kilograms by now. According to Haruki Nakamoto, a breeding staff specialist at the zoo, the baby likes making sounds and playing soccer with cardboard boxes for a ball.
Zoo officials have invited the public to come up with a name for the baby by May 10th, and are scheduled to have a naming ceremony on May 24th
