Prefectural Museum opens ‘Best of Disney’ exhibition

The exhibition features items from the earliest Mickey Mouse to Pixar animations.

Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives; from Mickey Mouse to Pixar, are now on display at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum.

Most of the figurines are available for sale at the museum.

The two-month exhibition opened Tuesday, and runs through June 28th.  The exhibition is open 9 a.m. ~ 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and 9 a.m. ~ 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturday. The museum is closed Mondays, including May 4th, and also on May 7th.

Advance tickets for adults are ¥800, ¥640 for high school and college students, and ¥400 for elementary, junior high and high school students.  Tickets at the door are ¥1,000 for adults, ¥800 for college and high school students, and ¥500 for elementary, junior high school and high school students. Tickets are on sale at  Familymart e-plus, Lawson (L code: 83317), Co-op Apre, Ryubo Department store, and Okinawa Times

Founded in 1923, the Walt Disney Company has brought entertainment to the world for generations. Under the supervision of the Walt Disney Archives, this exhibit covers everything from Mickey Mouse to Pirates of the Caribbean and the Pixar films. It will give you a glimpse into the secretive creative process at Disney, with over 800 items ranging from art and gadgets to costumes, mannequins, cell art, and figures.
