According to reports by local residents, coral has been observed spawning in the ocean areas off Sesoko Island in Motobu.

The spawning turned the ocean pink over the night between May 31st and Jun 1st. Corals release all their eggs at once only one time a year around a full moon night.  Floating eggs will eventually become larva, and settle on the seabed to grow into new coral.
