An interesting jazz – visual art collaboration event is scheduled for Garaman Hall at Ginoza Culture Center in Ginoza Village on Saturday, Dec. 12. The event features Makiko Hirabayashi Trio and a soft sculpture artist Yuko Takada Keller.

Makiko Hirabayashi is a Japanese jazz pianist who lives in Denmark, and tours with her trio mainly in Europe and Japan. Besides Hirabayashi, the trio includes Klavs Hovman on bass and Marilyn Mazur on drums, percussion and vocals.

Artist Yuko Takada Keller is also based in Denmark where she has lived since 1997. When in university she studied weaving, but after graduating wanted to try something more creative and started to work on what she calls “soft sculptures” using materials like paper.

The event in Garaman Hall is Takada’s first collaboration event combining music and soft sculpture works that she creates using tracking paper.

The event at Garaman Hall on Saturday, Dec. 12th, starts at 19:00 with the doors opening an hour earlier. Tickets to the event cost ¥3,500 for adults in advance and yen ¥4,000 at door. Tickets for children of elementary to high school age are ¥2,000. All seats are non-reserved, and children under six years of age are not permitted.
