A mix of Ryukyu Dance and modern ballet creates a completely new form of dance experience.

A very special event featuring creative ballet that mixes traditional Ryukyu dance and modern ballet is taking place at Urasoe Tedako Hall on Saturday, Apr. 16th.

The show includes elements of ‘zatsu odori’ Ryukyu dance that depicts everyday life.

A ballet school named NS Ryukyu Ballet Academy is behind the creation that features elements of formal classic Ryukyu dance called “Koten Buyo” and “Zatsu Odori” which is a classic form of popular Ryukyu dance. These two are interwoven with modern high-class ballet resulting in a performance that is highly artistic and high quality. The performance is accompanies with traditional Okinawan music and rhythms.

Most of the performers in this show are acclaimed winners of various ballet competitions and acclaimed ballet soloists.

The performance at Tedako Hall starts at 18:30 with doors opening half and hour earlier. Tickets are ¥2,500 in advance and 2,900 at door, and available by phone at 090-3794-4159.
