Anyone even thinking about dieting and losing weight would probably be well advised to stay away from Okinawa Bread & Sweets Festival that is scheduled to take place on Nov. 20th at Chura Sun Beach Minami-hama multi-purpose space from 11:00 to 16:00.

Besides sweets, the festival also features other foods like these homemade sausages on fresh buns.

There are hundreds of small owner-operated bakery and pastry shops across the island, each with a loyal and dedicated circle of fans who are ready to travel from all corners of the island when the sweet tooth starts it itch.

42 shops are scheduled to present the public their most innovative and delicious creations at this event. There are many shops that specialize in healthy and natural ingredients in their products. Eleven new vendors have booked a space in the event, including bagel shop Misuri, churro shop Chirin bell, Tida Smile that specializes in Hiroshimayaki, a variation of Okonomiyaki vegetable pancake. Other new entries are 100% whole-grain bread from Healthy 123, pizza from YANBAR, and waffles from Maitoparta. For dessert, there is gelato from Gelato Cafe Lily, vegan shakes and ice cream from Haku San, and baked sweets from Vivre Okinawa.

One is well advised to go to the Bread and Sweets festival early, as many vendors have run out of merchandise rather early in previous events.

And as in the previous bread & sweets events, a good idea is to bring a blanket or tarp, and enjoy the event as a picnic with the whole family and friends.
