“Nails reflect dreams of every lady!” is the motto of a nail shop that is binging one of the newest trends in women’s nail wear to Okinawa; jewelry studded design nails that can be easily attached and removed at will.

The shop is called JEWNEList. The name is a combination of jewelry and nail. JEWNEList Co., Ltd. has created a connector double-sided tape, with which the original-designed art nail chips can be connected on top of the wearer’s own nails and removed flexibly. A patent for the system is pending.

It took three years to develop the connector tape that won’t hurt the nails and allows an easy repeated removal and wear. JEWNEList has been on Okinawa since October.

JEWNEList Okinawa Shop owner Yaeko Gushi says, “I used to work as a nurse, and I couldn’t have my nails done because of my work. The JEWNEL is like an accessory. You can wear and take it off whenever you want.” There are many shops in mainland Japan offering the service, but hers is the only one on Okinawa.

A difference from other nail chips is that JEWNEL’s are original chip-proof nails, easy to set and remove, and possible to wear repeatedly. All are hand-made gel nails.

Shinobu Kamekawa, the owner of karaoke bar BIG”3” in Futenma offers women a chance to try on the new nail pieces daytime before she opens the karaoke at 20:00. “Please come and try them on. People have different nail sizes each, so you will find the just your size nail wear. When you find what you like, you can order it online. It takes two to four weeks to arrive,“ Kamekawa says.

Nails sets made to fit customers’ fingers that can be taken off or put in place as needed are available at JEWNEList.
