Restaurant, three other Okinawa facilities picked for top 100 list

“Suitenrou,” a restaurant serving traditional Ryukyu cuisine on Kokusai Street in Naha, was selected for the first time to the list called “The Pros’ Recommended Top 100 Facilities for Sightseeing, Restaurants, and Souvenirs.” Travel publication Ryokou Shinbun compiles the annual list that this year was published for the 37th time.

Suitenrou Store Manager said, “We are honored that our hospitality for more than 10 years together with our restaurant that is full of Ryukyu history and cuisine in Okinawan atmosphere was recognized.”

Suitenrou that is constructed using materials such as Ryukyu limestone and fern pine trees opened in August 2007 with the theme “History of the Ryukyus.” While planning the restaurant, JCC, the company managing Suitenrou, formed an “art department” with graduates from Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, and created imaginary paintings and picture scrolls of historic people using techniques of the Ryukyu Dynasty period that were used to decorate the interior of the restaurant.

In addition to Suitenrou, Nago Pineapple Park, Okinawa Fruit Land, and Funakura no Sato were also selected to the list from Okinawa.
