Tomigusuku Police arrested a 23-year-old U.S. Army corporal on suspicion of DUI early Sunday morning in Naha.

According to police, a police patrol stopped U.S. Army Cpl. Evan DeAndre Berman, stationed on Kadena Air Base, about 2 a.m. Sunday morning at a police checkpoint on prefectural road nr. 7 at Kyohara, Naha City. When the police officer smelled alcohol in Berman’s breath, he was submitted to a breathalyzer test that showed about twice the legal limit of alcohol in his breath.

Berman reportedly admitted to the charge. Berman also seems to have been in violation of Army’s liberty policy that restricts servicemen to the bases or in their off-base residences between 1 and 5 a.m.
