Yokosuka sailor nabbed on suspicion of DUI
A U.S. Navy sailor vacationing on Okinawa was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of DUI in Chatan.
According to Okinawa Prefectural Police, 34-year-old Seaman Apprentice Timothy Foster was arrested about 1 a.m. Sunday, on on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol when a police patrol stopped the car he was driving, and smelled alcohol. Police said that a subsequent breathalyzer test showed about four times the legal limit of alcohol in his breath.
The sailor reportedly has admitted to the charge, and said that he had drunk beer and tequila until 11 p.m. Saturday evening.
.He told police that he is stationed in Yokosuka Naval Base, and was on Okinawa for a vacation.
