Philippine Airlines is reportedly in the final stage of negotiations to start charter flights between Manila and Naha in April.

Initially, the plan is to fly two round-trip charter flights between the two cities. One from Manila arriving at Naha airport at 6 a.m. on Apr. 13th and leaving from Naha back to Manila at 7 a.m. on the same day. The other arrives at Naha 9 p.m. on Apr. 16, leaving back to Manila at 10 p.m. Depending on the results of the two flights, the airline would consider further charter flights on the route.

The direct flights between Naha and Manila would be the first since July 2007 when the regular flights were stopped. Tadashi Kaneshima, the CEO of the Naha Airport Building Co., said, “It is a great chance for Okinawan tourism to again have flights connecting Manila with Okinawa. We would like to be well prepared with required customs and quarantine services for this connection.”
